Course Information
Description	Topics may include introductory treatments of sets, logic, number systems, number theory, relations, functions, probability and statistics. Appropriate applications are included.
Prerequisites	Successful completion of or concurrent enrollment in DMTH 0132, or SAT math score of 500 or higher, or ACT Math score of 19 or higher, or a TSI math score of 350 or higher, or any other applicable exemption that qualifies the student for the class.
Learning Outcomes	Upon successful completion of this course students will: 1. Apply the language of notation and sets. (PSLO 1,3) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework.. 2. Determine the validity of an argument or statement and provide mathematical evidence. (PSLO 1,2) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework. 3. Solve problems in mathematics of finance. (PSLO 1,3) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework. . 4. Demonstrate fundamental probability/counting techniques and apply those techniques to solve problems. (PSLO 1,3) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework. 5. Interpret and analyze various representations of data. (PSLO 1,3) Measured by embedded questions in tests, quizzes, or homework. 6. Demonstrate the ability to choose and analyze mathematical models to solve problems from real-world settings, including, but not limited to, personal finance, health literacy, and civic engagement. Determination of Final Grade	Tests: 60% Quizzes: 25% Homework: 15% All homework will be done on computers using MyLabMath. It will be embedded in you Blackboard. Your Lamarpa username for MyLabMath is your username, your birthday is the password. Example: June 5, 2001 would be Jun052001. The password is case sensitive and has no spaces in it. You may have free access until January 30, 2022..

Instructor Policies
Attendance Policy	Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between participation and college success. There will not be any makeup quizzes or makeup tests. A student's lowest test grade will replace a first missed test. A student will receive a zero for any missed quiz, a second missed test or missing the final exam. The final exam is required. Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
